I’ve owned and read these idiosyncratic books for years, admiring Graves’s excellent rendering and organisation of the myths while discounting much of his private ‘White Goddess’ interpretation of the religious background. Unfortunately one of the best features of these books, the meticulously cross-referenced index, must be pretty inaccessible here. Audio books don’t lend themselves to checking back and forth between text and index.
