Castiglione’s work is essential for those who wish to brush up their patrician game, should they happen to discover themselves in the precincts of a Renaissance court, and are required to discourse learnedly, with rhetorical proficiency and coruscating wit. (It’d help if you were in possession of the latest urbane gossip concerning the Duke of Urbino, and pals. His snazzy headwear, and so forth)

I’m never quite sure whether Adam Bede is the greatest English novel, or only the greatest English opening chapter.
And Lady Windermere is one of several Wilde plays which deserve to be much better known.

I also become unreasonably & unfeasibly enraged at corrupting categorisation; renegade, randomised rubrics; and so on, on internet torrent sites. It’s a serious social problem, and we must apportion ratings/blame accordingly.
My behaviour has become so disordered & unpredictable that my family have pleaded with me to seek professional assistance, of a therapeutic nature. To which advice I always respond: all such advices must first be appropriately & properly categorised - failing such filing, my heed will recede.
If people don’t start applying such punctilious pedantry & Teutonic thoroughness, I will lose my officious ordure. And that’s an ordure! You know who you are.
